Kia ora ,

The excitement is building as we approach the highly anticipated Te Hui Taumata a FM Summit Aotearoa in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Our operations team is hard at work, ensuring this will be the best FM Summit yet, bringing the finest FM vibe to the heart of New Zealand. Like last year, the AGM will kick off day two of the summit, and we eagerly await the announcement of the finalists for the Ngā Tohu a FM Awards. Our gala awards dinner will be a night of celebration, honoring the very best in FM on 20 September.

The theme woven into this year's summit, "He iti hau marangai e tū te pāhokahoka – Like rainbows after a storm, success follows when we embrace the changing world, leaving business as usual behind," reflects the growing importance of FM as a profession, the solutions we provide and our crucial role in addressing various issues in our built environment here in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Leading up to the summit, we have two exciting webinars that will set the stage for insightful discussions. Make sure you don't miss out on these (details below).

One of our summit sessions will feature Nick Roberston from BERL, shedding light on the economic impact and significance of FM. We are currently seeking input from our community as BERL conducts an assessment of the facilities management sector's economic contribution to New Zealand. Your input is valuable, so we encourage you to participate and share your insights if you haven’t already.

Attention, everyone, please take note all of you with Green Star, NABERSNZ or Net Zero Building certifications. World Green Building Week (11-15 September) marks our collaboration with NZGBC and links to our summit theme the following week. As a key summit topic and with energy transparency on the horizon, we want to celebrate your commitment and leadership in this space during World Green Building Week. See below for more info.

In other news, we're thrilled to announce our partnership with CHASNZ, a step towards further showcasing FM's value at the design table. There are details below on how you can get involved.

We've also received alarming reports of an increasing number of electrical incidents and near misses involving trades and contractors on job sites. Your input is crucial in tackling this issue. Please see below for details and share your valuable feedback with us.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the facilities management profession. Together, we can provide solutions to address the various issues in our built environment. We look forward to exploring these crucial topics and engaging in enriching conversations at Te Hui Taumata a FM Summit Aotearoa 2023.

Ka kite ano, see you soon,

PS: While FM Summit is just around the corner, let's not forget our National Series that has just kicked off. Wayne Tacon from MoE has been a captivating and insightful speaker at our two events this week. As the value of our existing buildings rises amidst climate challenges, the demand for skilfully managed upgrades will only intensify, underscoring the ever-growing significance of facilities managers in the years ahead
