Presenting: Green Star - Performance to Improve the existing Building Market

Calling all Facilities Managers to get involved in the new and growing FMANZ Otago Branch!

We start the morning with an informal breakfast buffet where you can meet & greet your fellow facilities managers in the region. Followed by a presentation on Green Star - Performance, by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). 

The NZGBC is a not-for-profit industry organisation dedicated to a sustainable built environment. The Council achieves this through setting standards of best practice through green building rating tools; education and training for all areas of the building industry value chain; and providing access to networks, information and resources for our members to lead the market.

Andrea Davison talks about the newly launched Green Star – Performance tool that assesses the operational performance of all types of existing buildings across nine holistic impact categories.

Since the introduction of Green Star in 2007, the NZGBC has been successful in certifying over 130 new building and fitout projects in New Zealand. Whilst this is an outstanding achievement, the NZGBC is now focusing its sights on improving the existing building market.

The Green Star - Performance rating tool allows building owners and facilities managers to measure and continually improve upon their buildings' operational impacts.

Andrea’s role at the New Zealand Green Building Council includes reviewing and improving aspects of the Green Star rating tool and launching new tools to the New Zealand market. This involves active engagement with industry - from products and materials suppliers and manufacturers, design professionals, higher education and government agencies through to facilities managers, building owners and developers.
Andrea delivers Green Star professional training, presents at NZGBC and industry events, and undertakes business development initiatives to inspire building owners and developers to pursue certification for their developments.
Andrea has a Bachelor of Architecture (hons) and worked in architectural practices both New Zealand and Vancouver, Canada, before joining the NZGBC in 2012.
