Delivered by John Reed from Lpc Cresa, this presentation will cover the influence FMs can exercise before and after a commercial lease is executed.

Commercial leases set out the ‘rules of the game’ within which facilities management practitioners are tasked with integrating people, place, and process to improve occupier experience and business performance.  

Far too many commercial leases are executed without FM input, and far too many FM practitioners operate the premises without a deep understanding of the relevant lease terms.  The impact in both instances does not create the best possible situation for the occupier and their business.

In this presentation John will cover how FMs are able to add value for an occupier before a lease is executed. Furthermore he will focus on how - after execution of the lease - FMs help to optimise the workplace utilisation - within the limits of the lease.

Presented by John Reed
John had an early career in management training, followed by 20 years of leading business expansions and business turnarounds as a Managing Director of businesses in Africa, United Kingdom, and Australasia.  Two of these businesses were outsourcing businesses providing facilities management, project management, and real estate advisory services to clients.  Through these experiences he gained deep insight into the contribution that facilities management makes to an organisation and what is required to deliver a value adding facilities management service.

Today John chairs Lpc Cresa which provides conflict free advice and services that help tenants and occupiers across ANZ optimise their premises requirements. John also leads ‘Reposition’ which he founded in 2010 to help leaders ‘reposition’ their property management operations for improved outcomes.  Lpc Cresa services the office, industrial and retail sectors with clients that include multinational, national, government, and not for profit organisations and SMEs.   

John’s interests include writing and speaking on management topics.  He has had the privilege of addressing audiences in Australia, Africa, United Kingdom, USA, and Canada.  His focus is to help managers become more effective at ‘working on the business’ whilst ‘working in the business’.
