Hi Sara,
Welcome to this fortnight's issue of ForuM. We hope you're managing to stay warm and dry through this blustery wild weather! The aim of ForuM is to keep you up to date with important association and industry news, without taking up too much of your valuable time. So, without further ado - read on!

Congratulations to our Newest Assessed Members
We have a new cohort of assessed members, signed off yesterday by the Board. If you have your CV and proof of qualifications handy, it's a quick and easy process to apply for the Associate and Member categories. (Certified takes a bit longer.) Remember: our new membership categorisation is about increasing recognition of your skills, experience, knowledge and qualifications, and the vital role you play, both within your organisation and the wider industry. So it's worth taking the time to do it! Click here to see a full list of benefits for each member category, and here for information on eligibility requirements. And don't forget: if you're a corporate staff member, you are also eligible to apply.

Congratulations to: Lee Moraes, Associate (AFMANZ), Stuart Hodge, Associate (AFMANZ), Kennith Kim, Member (MFMANZ), Stephen Greenhough, Member (MFMANZ), Naomi Bray, Member (MFMANZ), Chris Cook, Member (MFMANZ), Philip Turner, Member (MFMANZ), Stephen Carson, Member (MFMANZ), Frank Branscombe, Member (MFMANZ), Peter Stanford, Member (MFMANZ), and Jonathan Jepson, Member (MFMANZ).

As part of their benefits, these members can start using their post-nominal in their email signatures, on their business cards, in their CV etc. This post-nominal is their badge of professionalism and we encourage them to use it wherever possible. It demonstrates a commitment to their career and the FM profession, and is a recognition of their skills, experience and qualifications.

See here for more information, or email Briar at assessment@fmanz.org if you have any questions.
Mentorship Programme Underway
Our mentorship programme is underway! Thank you to the five senior members who have stepped forward to become mentors, and to those of you who have signed up as mentees to expand your FM skills and knowledge. We look forward to working with you to make this a rewarding experience for everyone.

Interested? It's never too late to sign up. If you're an experienced FM'er who wants to give something back to the industry, we'd love to hear from you. Mentoring is an opportunity for you to develop new networks, gain recognition and tap into a few secrets from the next generation. Enrolling as a mentor will also earn you CPD points.

And new/junior FM'ers, if you'd like to sign up as a mentee, we'd love to hear from you too. Mentorship can help you set career goals, develop your FM skills and garner knowledge from an experienced practitioner. Based on FMANZ's professional competencies, we'll match you with a mentor who has experience in the areas in which you'd like to develop. This experienced FM'er will share their knowledge, provide advice, offer feedback, and support you in achieving your professional goals.

To learn more about the mentorship programme, click here. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Wayne at pd@fmanz.org.
September Breakfast Seminar: Working Safely at Heights
Coming soon to a venue near you: September's breakfast seminar is focused on height safety and access and fall protection, and is designed to improve your knowledge of the requirements of height safety systems for on-going maintenance.

Delivered by Diego Nunez, Director of Engineered Access Systems at Goleman Group, this presentation is tailored to all FM'ers, from junior to senior level, and will include project case studies, examples of access and fall protection systems and an industry update. Diego will also provide an overview of current safety in design legislation and requirements pertaining to working at height, explain correct height safety system design, and outline the hierarchy of risk control.

He will explore the application of access and fall protection systems, and delve into the design and execution process, from risk assessment and solution design, through to system handover and management. And he will make the case for facilities managers to be involved at the design stage and in the decision making process when considering how a building will function across its lifespan.

If you engage contractors working at height, make sure you don't miss this event. Register today!

Please note: Normally a $40 one off fee applies to FMANZ non-members who wish to register for this event. However, the September Breakfast in Auckland will be free for non-members because it's being held at Facilities Integrate. The non-member fee also doesn't apply for the Otago branch.
